Trip to Cornwallis Beach

Today was our trip to Cornwallis Beach and when we arrived back at class most of the children talked about the fun that they had at the beach with their friends. They loved the shells, swimming and looking at the crabs. The bus trip was also a highlight of the trip.

In class we have been playing and learning about patterns. Patterns are a core math skill. We have been learning about prediction: What will happen next, and creating our own patterns.

Intensive Lessons
After two weeks
For the last two weeks we have had intensive swimming lessons. I can see that the children have gained confidence in their abilities and skill levels. Those children who were scared of the water to start with have grown in stature and are now confident in their ability to play in the water and learn how to swim. Children who were more confident in the pool have extended their skills. The whole class has shown great courage and persistence in learning new skills.
We are looking forward to showing those skills on the 1st of April in our schools “Give it a go day”. This will be an opportunity to share our new skills with our families and friends.

Swimming

During the next two weeks we are swimming every day.

The children have really enjoyed being in the school pool for our fun swims and now that our lessons have started we are enthusiastic and ready to learn.

Buddy Time

Shared Reading with our Buddy Class

Our Buddies are from Room 12. We enjoy meeting them and having fun. Today we shared books from our school library.

Reading is such an important part of the school curriculum and the children from room 4 are learning new skills. Being able to read out loud and confidently is something that we aspire to be able to do. Our buddies are showing us the way.  What a great experience to share!!

Fun days at New Windsor with Room 1

Last week the children participated in our schools annual Fun Day.

Below are our photos from our golden time. We elected to use our time outside enjoying the beautiful day.  The children used all their negotiating and planning skills to decide what activities they wanted outside and as usual water play featured highly on their list of things they wanted to experiment with.

Balancing, cooking and building were also activities they enjoyed alongside their friends.

We all had a great time.
