 Learning Story

Room 1: Weaving our rainbow fish;

This week we made rainbow fish in class. For some of the children this was the first time they had learned how to weave paper under and over using their fine motor skills. Others refreshed their skills and used their leadership skills to help others in the class.  Weaving is a task that uses many different senses and muscles, hand eye co -ordination and concentration skills.

Phonemic Awareness

Poetry and Rhyming words:

Rhyming words is something that we are enjoying in class and on Friday we had fun discussing and drawing about The Ning Nang Nong the Spike Milligan poem.  The children had lots of idea's and comments to make about the fun-loving language in the poem.
We enjoyed reading the poem and playing with the words.

Being creative with Room 11

Origami

On Friday afternoon in our buddy class time room 11 taught us how to make an origami fish.  It was lots of fun and we needed to use our thinking and observation powers to manipulate and fold the paper the right way.

Our buddies were awesome and supported us while we created and worked alongside them.

Book Week

Literacy is Fun!!

We have had a very busy week with lots of different literacy experiences.  We have had a visit from our local librarian.  The children really enjoyed listening and learning from her. We have been acting out our fairy tales in class and have spent lots of time with Rooms 2 and 3 reading and experiencing lots of different stories.  On Wednesday Papa Jarrod came to Room 3 and read to us in Maori.  Room 11 came and read stories to us and we also had fun acting out our stories with them too.  Today is the Book Parade and I am looking forward to seeing all the different costumes!!

Learning New Physical Skills

This week has been a very exciting week for us.  As well as Book Week we have had lots of different learning opportunities.

Exploring gymnastic equipment through play has been an awesome opportunity.  The children will get more confident as we provide them with lots of different experiences.
